4th of July is coming: What NSV activities do you have planned?

Recommended Posts

Last year this time I was frantically getting ready for surgery and focusing on getting my business in a position it could run itself for the 6 weeks I thought I might be out of commission. Turned out I only ended up not working for about a day

Anyway, last year I went to a summer fair 4th of July weekend and walking around and stuff was pretty tough. It was hot and humid and I was carry my portable chair with me for concerts. It was hellish.

This year I am down over 135lbs from my high weight and bursting with ungodly amounts of energy. I plan on having a good time this weekend. This includes kayaking, bike riding, and climbing those hills at that summer festival that killed me last year with ease this year.

What are you doing?

I'm still pre-op but I'm spending the week at Lake Winnipesaukee NH with my BF, parents (our dogs) and other family. It should be interesting! I'm going to be more active (even though I haven't lost weight - I feel like I'm in better shape than last year.).

Enjoy!!!

First, @@OutsideMatchInside ... you have done SO great during this last year. Congratulations. And big respect to you!

My Fourth of July this year -- mowing and more mowing and sawing and hauling downed timber and weeding. :)

Sounds stupid to be even a little excited about all that. But I am. Two years ago (I was sleeved in August 2014) I couldn't even walk a mile.

Now, I could trek the Himalayas.

Literally.

Seriously.

:)

Celebrating a milestone birthday on Saturday (which was part of what pushed me toward surgery). There will be a high Protein birthday dinner at a Brazilian Steak House. The rest of the weekend will be stuff around the house. Nothing exciting.

My family and my boyfriend's family are meeting for the first time. We all (me, the boyfriend, his wife, their two kids, my kid) are going to a Water park on Saturday.

My daughter (12) knows about my poly life; they just told their older one this week (she's 13), and her response was "whatevvv". Her biggest concern is that my daughter won't like her.

Two years ago at this time I was about to go on my annual vacay to Florida, in a first class seat (because I didn't fit in a regular one). This time last year I was counting down the days to surgery (August). This year, I'm counting down the days to Florida again, 170+ pounds lighter.

For the third year in a row I'm running in an annual 4th of July 5k race put on by our local running store!

First year I had to walk part of it. Last year I hit my first 5k under 30 mins. This year I'm aiming for a 5k PR which would be under 26 mins!

@@jess9395 I want to pick a 5k to train for and run. Maybe something in the fall.

Sounds exciting, good luck!

Surgery is July 6th so I'm prepping for that, cleaning house, buying foods that I can eat and tying up loose ends at work.

Happy fourth to y'all

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
