I found out I was denied 3 days before starting my preop liquid diet! If anyone has any encouraging words I could use them. I have filed my appeal prayers needed !

I am so sorry - I hope this resolves quickly. Don't give up. Maybe there was a requirement that was missed or something and that will fix this. Fingers crossed!

What was the reason denied? Can the surgeon do a peer to peer review to see if it gets overturned?

What is your BMI? Do you have asthma, PCOS, sleep apnea, high cholesterol??? Look at the Obesity Action Coalition website for some help on appealing.

I'm so sorry! :( This was my worst nightmare, as well....being denied. Definitely appeal and look for co-morbidities that you may have that you were unaware of. I will say a big prayer for you.

What is your insurance company's official, printed policy on WLS?

I am in the same boat. I was denied mid-liver shrink diet a week before my revision surgery date this past Tuesday. I hired Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy group after doing lots of research on them. They have a great track record of getting denials overturned. They started working today on my case and have been updating me throughout the day. So I am hopeful. Maybe they could help you too.

Mine was denied too and in the end, I paid out of pocket. I paid $21K in the end and in retrospect, I would have paid $100K. I spent everything I had and I was reborn again from doing so. I hope the appeal goes through but if not, how much is LIFE worth to you???

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
