They check purses at the movie theaters you guys go to?

I never put it to the test. We only have one movie theater here in the Mts, so I just went to the office and asked prior to going to the movies the next weekend.

I explained that I could not eat anything solid and asked if I could bring in my own snack. They had absolutely NO problem .

The most they can say is, "no". If they do----then you can sneak something. :)

What are yogurt tubes?

They're called Gogurt, made almost like a freeze pop. You can find them in the yogurt section

Omg LOVE Moon Cheese!!! But I can eat way too much of it.

I do a Quest or Power Crunch bar, but definitely not yet.

And I agree, learn to love the movie for its own sake! It's only two hours, you can go without a snack for two hours and break that hard wired pairing of an unhealthy snack with the experience!

I would smuggle in a shake or some yogurt tubes.

Have you found any low sugar yogurt tubes? The only ones I find have a ton of added sugar. I would love to know a brand that doesn't!

Gogurts have basically no nutritional value and are not bariatric friendly. They are like uncrustables and box mac and cheese, things that moms that just don't give a damn anymore feed their kids.

Having those 2 weeks after surgery might make someone dump.

Did anyone that responded to this thread pay attention to the fact that OP is just starting on purees?

Yeah I was hoping someone had found some GOOD yogurt in a tube!

And yes I tried to Answer for future thread readers as well as the OP.

Two weeks out I would drink Water in a movie. It's the time to break old habits (movie = snack) and create new ones. Really we can go through a two hour movie without food.

This a thousand times. People shouldn't even hungry at 2 weeks. Water is the best option.

And this isn't just for OP. People keep asking this same question all the time, and the best option at the movies is water. Especially before 6 months and you are trying to learn good habits to last you the rest of your life.

All ideas are welcome however I will specifically be entering the pureed food stage on tomorrow and will be taking my boys to the movies on Friday. Is there anything I can snack on?? I doubt they have SF Slurpees....

My snack in the theaters is the one on the right.........

I can't imagine there will be anything suitable there. Besides, snacking may not be the greatest habit to pick back up. Maybe focus on learning to enjoy the movies without snacking. If you are really concerned that you will be so hungry that you will be unable to enjoy the movie, smuggle in a Premier Protein shake or a small container of Greek yogurt. Good luck!

I've got to agree with this. It took me a long time to wrap my ahead around the idea that I did not NEED to snack at all the usual events -- movies, baseball games, theatre intermissions...

As a fatty, the idea seemed ludicrous, but now, I can easily go 2-3 hours without eating.

Now that said... when I was in my first 6-12 months post op, I had a real problem getting in enough Protein so I felt like I had to eat constantly. I smuggled in cheese sticks, beef Jerky, almonds, individual hummus cups, babybels... (some of these obviously not soft).

If you don't need to snack, get out of the habit, if you do, cheese is always a great answer. :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
