catalina_uk 62 Posted June 29, 2016 I m afraid you can't have surgery anymore. No dr that I know would do that to you.
Senorita_Monchita 14 Posted June 29, 2016 There is a pregnancy test before surgery that you have to take! You have to let them know! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted June 29, 2016 You need to let your surgeon and your OB/GYN know. Yes, they pregnancy test everyone with a remotely close to functioning uterus prior to surgery. They pregnancy tested me and I was a 47 year old gay woman (I'm a still a gay woman, moved on from 47 though). If you want to continue this pregnancy, surgery is a terrible choice and no competent surgeon would do it on a pregnant woman. General anesthesia followed by starvation rations? That's a big no. If you do not want to continue the pregnancy, then you'll likely just have to reschedule for a few weeks after the termination. Good luck going forward -- I know this puts you in a very hard position.
tanyarahmes 119 Posted June 29, 2016 U can't have surgery you will not get enough nutrition to feed yourself and surely not enough to feed a fetus u have to wait 18 after surgery to even get pregnant for the safety of a baby Sent from my iPhone

KristenLe 5,979 Posted June 29, 2016 @@Justjune83 You need to call your surgeon immediately. There's no way you can go through surgery. It's dangerous for a fetus to be exposed to anesthesia and meds given during surgery. You are also not able to get enough nutrients for you and a baby. If you have surgery - you are putting yourself and the baby at great risk. Sorry that your plan seems to have detailed but a healthy pregnancy and baby are more important! Sharon1964 2,530 Posted June 29, 2016 You're supposed to have surgery tomorrow. Please tell us you called your surgeon's office and they cancelled your surgery. Generally, they will want you to wait for at least one year after surgery to become pregnant.

I am confused on what to do.Speaking from being in your shoes.i had surgery March 28th, found out I was pregnant April 13th. I was pregnant when I had surgery but do to the hospital only doing a urine test it was too early to detect. Had they done blood work I wouldn't have had surgery and I would be having a healthy baby in Dec. Due to the surgery and me not being able to eat / drink anything I had to terminate.. I was not able to even keep down Water. food was a huge NO!!!! I vomit everyday all day.. Trust me you want to let them know ahead of time and reschedule your surgery to avoid mental, emotional torture... GOOD LUCK, BEST WISHES AND CONGRATS ON A HEALTHY BABY!! taramarie523 116 Posted June 30, 2016 This same exact thing happened to me in 2013. You'll have to reschedule. Your approval if the same as mine is good for one year so you can do it right after you have the baby. I didn't make it in the year then I got scared off then had another baby lol now I'm 8 weeks post op. This winter I started the process over I'm so glad I did the surgery but glad it worked out the way it did. Everything happens for a reason this baby is a blessing and you'll have your surgery after don't stress. Congrats.
