Hey guys. I had Surgery yesterday morning and everything went extremely well. I wasn't nauseous so that was a plus. I didn't get discharged around 4pm today. I had an hour ride home and my friend drove me home. The car ride home sucked. I'm still really sore but other than that I'm doing great!!

Thanks, everyone!!! I wanna try really hard to meet my 64 ounces goal today. I'm not as sore today as I was yesterday. I feel better when I lay down...

Congrats. So happy for you. Everything you went through motivated me because I have had some obstacles and felt like giving up. But I know I have to fight for this and not give in. I know it was worth going through once you are done with surgery and on your way. Congrats once again.

Thanks @gingerbelle! I'm so glad I could motivate someone! It was so incredibly stressful going through the whole process and it's so crazy just know that the actual surgery is finally over! Now, it's all up to me! Exciting! But scary! I'm ready for this journey. I've almost survived week 1. My first post-op appointment is Tuesday. Don't give up! :)

I'm going to my 3 month post-op appointment next week. I vaguely remember the first weeks of special foods and diets. I am able to eat most everything on eligible food lists. I love being able to have a taste (bite) of well seasoned and flavorful foods. This was so much worth it. Can't wait to tell the Psychiatrist (psych Eval) that I am happy! He said surgery wouldn't make me happy!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
