I'm sorry to hear that your surgery was postponed, but it really is for the best. You want to be as healthy as you can be when you go in for surgery. Hopefully everything is cleared soon, and you can get right back on track.

Patience is a virtue, right? Yeah, right...:( Wouldn't you like to kick "patience" right in the butt, right?

I'm so sorry you've hit this bump in the road when you're so close to starting your journey --post op.

All of the old clichés don't help much, I know, so I won't repeat any more of them. Just know that there are folks out here who care about you.

And

We're listening---any time.

Keep posting and letting us know when you've conquered these last bothersome "bumps".

Smooth path on the horizon, my friend.

Mine was put off from November to May because of my kidneys. Don't sweat it.

I am sorry to hear you are running into problems. One individual in our Bariatric Surgery Group had his surgery scheduled, the date was fixed and only days away. But his pre-op tests uncovered a problem. He was about to have a massive heart attack. The surgeon called him and asked him to come to the hospital immediately. He had open heart surgery shortly after arriving at the hospital. It saved his life. After he recovered from the operation, he was back on track for his bariatric surgery and showed up at the next meeting with a new date.

I am sad that your surgery has been postponed! I can remember how bumps in the road made me cry uncontrollably. I was so ready to begin my new life.

I know that you are already glad that they found this problem because it likely would have caused complications almost right away. They want you to go into surgery with a good solid base because there are a couple of months right afterward that literally sucks all the stacked up nutrients away from you.

The best thing is to get your infusion and follow up with a cardiologist to make sure your heart is healthy enough to go through such a major transition. The surgery is the smallest part, it's life after and learning your way that takes a lot out of us.

I hope everything works out for you and you are back on the schedule quickly. Keep us posted and certainly reach out if you need anything.

Hugs!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
