I liked the 100 calorie chocolate ones a lot. They have 25 grams of Protein. Would have those for Breakfast some days before surgery and used them through my pre-op diet. I haven't had any after, though. My surgeon and nutritionist told me not to drink them afterwards. They advised me not to have any protein powders or shakes with extra Vitamins. I've been using EAS shakes. They go for something like $26 on Amazon for 12 of them or $8 in Target for 4. Kind of expensive, but I like them. My nutritionist wasn't happy that they were 7 carbs, but was happy that I was able to tolerate them. Too many of the pre-made shakes have a bit of a tinny taste to me and this one didn't have it.

I used Muscle Milk Light (vanilla Creme). I found that blending in a half a banana improved the flavor.

I don't like any. What I found tbat tastes pretty good is actually the high Protein carnation breakfast shake. That has 15g of protein. I mix that with a scoop of chocolate premiere protein and some frozen banana and it's good

pineapple Peach Protein shake with Cottage Cheese:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese

1/2 banana

1/2 cup almond milk

1/2 cup frozen peach

1/2 cup frozen pineapple

You blend them together in your blender and drink it fresh and cold.

Cottage cheese is very rich in Protein, especially casein. If you are gym-lovers, you will know that substance. https://wikihomenutrition.com/cottage-cheese-health-benefits/

If your looking for a less processed shake, I find these to be delicious:

1/2 medium size banana

4oz unsweetened chocolate Almond Milk

3 tbsp Peanut Powder (I use Hoosier Hill Farm)

2 tbsp Ghiradelli unsweetened cocoa powder

274 calories

28g Protein

If you are worried about calorie intake, you can drop the cocoa powder, saving 40 calories and only losing 2g of Protein (234 calories, 26g protein).

Funnt to be reading this now. I'm in suburb to verify my airbag recall. They said they had one replacement left, so I wasn't prepared for the 2 hour job. Their waiting room has delicious looking Cookies. I walked right out and into the gas station quick mart next door. In my past life, I would have bought candy and ate the Cookies. Instead after walking around I settled on a muscle milk, 20 Protein, 100 calories and now sitting here drinking it and not at all intrigued with the cookies.

I like Unjury powder. I mostly use the unflavored. One scoop in 8 oz 1% milk is 28grams of Protein. The after taste of the premised shakes, especially the premier, makes me gag. I can handle Muscle Milk. Don't love it but you can find it just about anywhere.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
