So I am only just under 5 weeks post op and I am loving life. This is easily the best decision I have ever made. I have lost 45 pounds since my surgery on May 23 and lost around 95 overall. I was just offered an amazing job that I truly believe I never would of gotten if not for the surgery. For any people who are skeptical about getting the surgery just know that I sure was and I am so damn glad that I decided to get it. If anyone has any questions at all please do not hesitate to private message me.post-291889-14670681681323_thumb.jpg

@@aronbd - congrats. Just so others who are interested can get an idea of what you did to get to where you are...do you mind telling everyone your age range, and what you do for exercise etc.?

You are a good example for many.

And yes, no doubt, losing weight opens many doors, professionally and personally.

I am 23 years old and I am 6'2My heaviest weight was 455 lbs. I'm currently down to 330. Honestly I just followed my doctors directions to a T from around 3 months before my surgery and up until this very day. The two weeks after surgery I made sure I walked every day as much as I could and once I hit two weeks and was cleared for cardio I ran on the treadmill every day for 40-45 minutes. Now I just get my Protein and Water in. Cardio and running 6x a week for 40-45 minutes and I incorporate weight lifting in 3-4 times a week. I also am an avid basketball player and will play pickup around 3 times a week for an hour or so.

I understand that physically I may have been younger/ in a bit better shape than a lot of people on here but it can be done. I played football my whole life so I have quite a bit of muscle under all my fat. The point is this surgery is a game changer and the toughest part for me which was my eating habits has changed dramatically. I promise you once you really start seeing results the gym can get extremely addicting.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
