You should remove because they are they may call off the surgery .They can also cause an infection. I worked for a surgeon and he called a surgery off for body piercing. It is not worth it.

Have a good surgery, good luck.....

Yep that's right, no polished toes/fingers, no lotions, deodorant, perfume, and no metal jewelry. I just got my retainers from Spencers today. Walmart also carries them as well.

No jewelry, you can remove them right before you go to the OR, give it to a friend or family member as they wait in the waiting room. Put it back on when you are fully awake and out from PACU.

I was allowed nail polish and contact lenses (I sleep in them on a regular basis) but nothing metal.

Hmmm I guess every surgeon is different.

In every way! I won't even get started on different pre op diets, post op stages, etc. the only thing these docs often have in common is that they are different!

I haven't signed up for surgery yet...still on the fence. In the meantime, I creep a lot of posts trying to gain as much info and inspiration as I can.

The surgery I'm interested in is the Gastric Sleeve. BUT I have a dermal piercing just below my neck in the middle of my chest...pretty neat looking.

This cannot be removed unless surgically, and I've had it for 3 years...really don't want to have to remove it! The piercer told me that he'd probably be able to take it out for me with minimal issues.

Wonder if they'd let me keep it in, and in the event something is needed where it has to come out, then they could just rip it out prior to doing whatever?

they let me keep my body jewelry in--they put this weird tape over it, i think to reduce conductivity?? it was super sticky and left residue everywhere. but i was able to keep my jewelry in.

Hi all, Does anyone know of places in Paris where I could find jewelry -- as in, not earrings and necklaces, etc, but nose rings, eyebrow rings, barbells, things like that? I usually order online but I don't want to deal with overseas shipping -- I have searched the internet for some insight but can't really find anything that's not a super expensive tattoo/piercing shop that sells septum rings for $40. Any weird shops/streets/areas where I could maybe have some luck?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
