Yes you are right. It was never for me. My body started developing scar tissue trying to protect itself from the foreign body. I am so much happier with the band out. If you read my post (the link above) you will know my experience with the band.

I have contined to loose weight since my band removal and am feeling great. I can eat salads and fruit. Which is also FABULOUS!

In any event, I joined the post for support, being made an "example" of was not my plan, and my inbox has been jammed with negative emails from several people. I have made it such that the emails I receive from this site go to my junk folder, but for some reason, it did not take.

I am hapy to share my experience with anyone who wants to hear it and am happy to answer any questions. But I kindly ask you to refrain from judging me or being nasty.

Oh, and by the way, thank you for your concern. My surgery went very well and I recovered in 1 day.

I am so glad that you are feeling better, I really am. As I said earlier, perhaps it just wasn't for you and all those posts from people saying to hang in there and that it would be better...sometimes it just isn't. I'm also very glad your recovery from unbanding was so quick.

I NEVER meant for anyone to write something negative to you personally as a result of my posts. As you can see by the tone of my posts, I am sorry that you lost your band, I am sorry that it didn't work for you. As you said in your first post on this thread, if your lose you band, that was something you'd have to deal with down the road. Sadly, you are dealing with it but on a more positive note, you are doing very well and I'm sure others will unfortunately have complications and can gain strength from your experience that there is life on the other side and you can do fine.

I wasn't trying to point out only that you ate early and that's why you slipped, I did ask if it could be part of the reason, or if it could be surgical technique, or any number of other factors. I say these things to get folks to think about this journey. So many people said you'd be fine, you weren't, you went to get diagnosed and thankfully it was discovered you had slipped before something worse happened like an erosion. I am an example myself, I'll gladly be an example if it helps one single person not do what I have done. I have wasted four months of this band by being pigheaded and not getting a fill. I haven't lost a pound in over three months. Whose fault is that? Mine. I'll be calling for a fill appt. on Monday. Sometimes being an example isn't the most comfortable thing, but again, if it helps one single person avoid pain or frustration or heartache...isn't it worth it?

I did the same thing! don't worry you will be fine, just eat the right foods stay away from all those foods that first got you were your at. I was banded on November 13th and have not had a fill yet. My first week to tell you the truth I was so hungry that I wanted it out but! I stuck to the diet and now I feel a lot better. I eat because I can BUT! I try to eat healthy. You will be fine........

MBeauty, apparently you didn't read the entire thread! The OP (who posted this in AUGUST) had LOST her band already. See, it wasn't okay and she wasn't fine.

I know lots of folks read only the first post in a thread then comment, but here's an example of why you really should at least skim through before posting. Not your fault, just an advisement for the future.

In any case, :welcomeB: to LBT and I do hope you are fine!

i am one month out tomorrow and the doctor okd me to eat regular food now. i have slipped like everyday this week for some reason. talk about feeling like a failure. i am doing well for the most part but am not getting enough fluids in and i have eaten something each day that i shouldnt have. yes it may be a bite or two or small amounts (better than before surgery) but i wish i could stick to it 100%. some of it is definetely mental. we know not to do it but sometimes we just give in because thats what were used to. i realize that i need to drink much more inbetween meals and get more Protein. its hard when you are eating less to get everything in such as fruits, veg, Calcium, protein. we have to try to make the best choices we can because our intake especially after a restriction is going to be less and we wont get enough nutrients in, i think this is a problem for me because my hair is really thinning on the top and i am mortified. it has been thinning for the past few years but in the past few days ive really noticed it. i wish you well and maybe we can email each other back for support.

HSH I am sorry you got bashed on. I am also really sorry yours slipped. I just want to say that this has actualy helped me remember that I need to stick with what my Dr says. If it contributed to yours or not I just dont want it happening to me.

I am sorry about the bad experience

I think the reason you feel that way is because you haven't had a fill yet. I know I haven't, and have been very hungry. I think I have probably eaten more than I should, but not enough to mess anything up. I am hoping that after I get my fill it will take away the hunger pains and help me to say no when I should.

For what it's worth Faith, I'm glad you made the correlation between the two threads. As someone getting ready for surgery, it has been quite educational.

OMG, I am so sorry to hear that you are being bombarded with hate mail! :) I would report them to the site admin. What a bunch of knobs.:)

Congratulations on doing so well post-band and congrats for standing up for yourself in getting it removed. For some people it doesn't work. Thank god the band is reversible, unlike some other surgeries...

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
