Long stall and cant break it

Recommended Posts

I am one month post op today and haven't lost a pound since week 2 and haven't changed anything.

How do I break this stall?

My plan says an ordinary Breakfast should consist of an egg, 1 piece of toast or 1/2 cup of oatmeal, some fruit, BUT I am lucky to get the egg or 1/2 cup of Cereal or oatmeal. I am on stage 5 and allowed mostly everything but limited bread, Pasta, rice and coffee. At this stage what do you guys eat and how much each meal?

Could the fact I am having a hard time getting my 70 grams of Protein per day contributing to my stall?

Thank you.

Embrace exercise and cut out the oatmeal and toast.

One month out my meals were 1/4 cup in size. 3 per day and no Snacks in between.

One month post op and you're allowed carbs?? That's the issue right there. Cut out ALL the carbs.

With my doctor, I'm only allowed carbs after a year or I meet 75% weight loss goal. I'm allowed fruit after 6 months.

My plan consists of 4 oz of any type of high Protein like chicken, beef, turkey, or fish.

Protein is what will help you and carbs will only hold you back.

Yes, the fact that you are not reaching your Protein target can influence your stall. But, you are right on schedule for a normal stall.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone stalls periodically, and almost everyone stalls at three weeks post-op.

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting in at least 64 oz of Fluid and all of your protein.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods.

Exercise when cleared.

Stay off the scale.

And, Embrace the Stall

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
