Good morning Everyone,

Quick question? Is it OK to swim 3 weeks post op? I went swimming with my son yesterday and felt a little strange. I think it is probably in my head no pain, just felt like things where moving :embarassed:.

What do your incisions look like? I would be more concerned with getting an infection in an incision than messing anything up on the inside. Since it's a non-weight bearing activity, I wouldn't think you could damage anything.

Jennifer,

I would consult your docter about the activites you can and can't do. I know personally when I went back for my post op check up, which was a week after I was banded, I was cleared. My docter pretty much told me I could do what I want and to just pay attention to my body and how I was feeling. If you can't get into your Dr right now, how your body reacts is a good thing to go by.

Good Luck!

told me I could swim 2 weeks post op,as long as incisions were closed. They were and steristrips had come off (staples out at 7 days) so I have swimmed everyday since then. I immediately come in and wash with antibacterial soap, just as a precaution tho.

I had full clearance for all activities at one week post-op. But, I agree with the others...just make sure your incisions are healed before swimming to avoid infection.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
