I'm a vet and I remember when many of you were having your surgeries over 2 years ago. I left the forum for awhile
Because I got bullied by certain individuals and got tired of the catty drama. Plus I needed to focus on myself and my own relationship with my weight loss journey etc. anyway I'm back, at least for now, and I'm
Happy to give my two cents to anyone who needs advice whether newby or vet. This is a rough surgery and a huge transition and it's important to support each other.

My Husband and I had sleeve surgery in Oct 2013. I really do miss the input from the vets. Life has been pretty easy for us but in the last 10 months my Husband has gained about 12lb and really struggling to not let that number get any bigger. I had a moment this week where I looked at us sitting on the lounge watching tv eating junk. I couldn't believe so many bad habits had slipped back into our life.
I am still at goal but know if we persist on this path it's not going to be Long before I start struggling.
I know what we need to do it's just making sure I can get him to engage and take notice. I almost have to find away to scare him into seeing what I can see.
So if there are any vets out there that have been through this I would love to hear your story.

I too have put on 8 pounds in past 6-8 months. I know what I've done and having a hard time stopping. I absolutely love the caramel frappes from Mc Donald's and StarBucks! I know they are wrong, I find I can't stop myself from getting them when I'm out and about. Specially with my daughter, she's hooked on them also.

My surgery was Oct 2014. I can't stomach the Unjury shakes either anymore. My husband said if I could smell them I would've never started drinking them. My nose stopped working 3 1/2 years ago for no reason at all. Doing pretty good with other junk food, chocolate of any kind in anything I can't eat.

I have to get strong and reject those nummy frappes, oh so hard.

Funny you mention the dreaded Frappe Starbucks Esspresso Frappe is hard to resist for both of us. Although we do have skinny milk and only one shot of the syrup

I'm hitting the 3 yr post op December 3. This is defiantly a challenging experience. My hormones have gone totally bananas ever since the sleeve surgery. Either that or I'm slowly turning peri-menopausal lol

It becomes about you and your habits after the magical year or so. It is hard! It can be done
But takes much work and time and commitment... I can't go back! Everyday I try

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
