Yes, I do, but not often because I love it so and it really has little nutritional value. Of course I have butter on it so- not the best choice.

I started eating popcorn occasionally and measured out (1 cup) at 4 months out. Make sure to measure, it is definitely a slider food.

I eat popcorn all the time. Started about 8 months postop once I was past goal and my sleeve was good and healed. And yes, it's a slider food so I usually only make the 100 calorie mini bags. I could easily eat a whole regular bag.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm only one month out so it will be awhile but I love popcorn and just wanted to know whether a small portion can be reintegrated back into my diet down the road.

I did not have any until six months out because I was concerned about getting kernals and bits stuck along the way. If I do have it, I air pop it, eat it plain and have to measure. It definitely can disappear before your eyes and is easy to nosh yourself into a bellyache.

I love burned popcorn. Weird, right?

To justify eating it, I sprinkle Nutrional Yeast onto it.

It's not only yummy, but it adds Protein. :)

Just be careful, because too much can easily be eaten.

You can eat anything you want!! It's great!

Really? Cause my dr said no more bread, Pasta, or rice ever! Forever is a long time. That has me more scared then the actual surgery pain. Do you enjoy food like you did before just in smaller portions? Cause I'm afraid eating for me will always have to be a challenge from here on out.

My doctor also said no more rice, Pasta or bread and I choose to follow his directions, personally. I'm three years post op and maintaining like a champ, but I'm certainly no expert.

That said, telling people to follow the advice of their surgeon is super unpopular around here, so I'll stick with my original advice.

Eat what you want! You know your body best!

Oh my goodness. I almost posted this same question today, lol. I won't go to the movie theater because I have always gotten popcorn. Yes, with extra butter. Kinda makes me sad. Maybe one day my husband and I will go and get a small, lol.

Yeah me too on the extra butter pre surgery! I have gone to movies since the surgery and it was fine not to have popcorn. I'm only one month out and have little appetite. I've gone to Red Robin (family favorite) and had French onion Soup broth instead of endless fries. Certainly other food looks good, but I'm so thrilled I don't have the appetite I had prior to surgery. I do look forward to at some point being able to have smaller portions of more normal food.

Seriously, Ladies, try sprinkling some Nutritional Yeast on your popcorn.

Take a bag of it with you to the movies.

Try it----you'll like it!! :)

Report back, please after you've tried it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
