4mybabies 36 Posted June 25, 2016 Im 2 days away from starting the mushy food phase. Can I go ahead and start?
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted June 25, 2016 No, you need to follow the plan your team gave you. Don't look to a message board of internet strangers to grant you permission to go against medical orders. If you feel like you are ready to progress to mushy foods, you need to call your surgeon, dietitian, bariatric nurse practitioner -- someone from your team -- and discuss it with them and see if they think you are ready. Caribear 184 Posted June 26, 2016 I really don't think @@Bufflehead was trying to be nasty with you, she was just being blunt. I know you have been through a lot since surgery, and sometimes we can get a little emotionally tender during this time, but I am sure she didn't mean it that way. And I would echo her advice - it's really not a good idea to try to rush things while you are still healing. I know it is tempting to skip ahead, but your surgical team has these guidelines in place for a reason. Just hang in there for the next two days, it will be here before you know it. Kaze 94 Posted June 26, 2016 Why does everyone assume that when someone says something they don't want to hear they're being nasty or rude? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Elle09 157 Posted June 26, 2016 Honest question; an honest answer. I don't see that there were any nasty undertones to @@Bufflehead response. It is important to follow your medical teams plan. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Kaze 94 Posted June 27, 2016 I feel "social media bullies" is a bit of a stretch. But yeah, I'd really just follow your doc's plan. It doesn't hurt to ask them though. Letting them know you're feeling up to it does help them gauge healing and what not I'm sure to some degree. But yeah, for the first few months post op, I feel it's super important to baby our sleeves just so they get the healing time they need. You can probably be a little "riskier" (for lack of a better word) when you're 3, 4, 5, 6+ months out.
