Wow, there doesn't seem to be a lot of action in the international part of the forum. ;)

Any sleevers (or other WLS) here in Japan? I haven't booked my surgery yet, but will do so soon (probably Mexico). While I love this entire site for all the help I've been getting from it, it would be nice to talk to people who have had to deal with various issues pre- and post-op while living in Japan.

I don't live in Japan but I've stayed there for a year or two. I'd be best if you booked a surgery in the US or in the UK.

I've been for over a decade! (where does the time go?) I'm already planning a surgery in Mexico - the UK or the US would be way too expensive for me (might as well get it done in Japan).

I did look at some other options in Europe, but they are still about $1000+ more expensive than Mexico...I could wait and see if the euro depreciates, but would rather get on with it.

Cheers.

Mexico is okay but sometimes they're sanitation isn't that great and sometimes they cut corners. I just want you to be safe but do whatever you think is best!

Honestly, it is not the best place to go for surgery. I had a friend go for surgery and she got a bad infection. You would probably just have to bite the bullet and have surgery either in your country, America or the UK.

Seriously?

First of all, I know how to do my research and that kind of attitude is not welcome. Thousands of people go to Mexico every year for surgery and don't have any problems. People get infections in the US too.

Secondly, don't assume that everyone is from the UK or the US here, or are covered by insurance.

First of all, please calm down because I never said you didn't know how to do your research.

Second of all, I was replying to a question that was on this post. I know people get infections in the US too but I was just telling the person what happened to my friend.

Third of all, I didn't assume everyone was covered by insurance, stop assuming I am assuming that.

Fourth and for most: readjust your attitude and re read my pervious post. I am not being negative, just giving my honest opinion.

Have a blessed day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
