@@athenean - does he at least put the patch on you before he does the procedure and give you the scripts at that time? You're going to need them ... sure would be nice if he hooked you up in advance. I was given prescription Prilosec to take a week in advance but it's the same dosage as over the counter (OTC). You might want to ask him if you can start taking the OTC version beforehand to reduce possible acid issues. Good luck!!

I have a meeting with the dietician tomorrow, maybe she will shed some light on it!

It went well. No vomiting so that's a plus. Day 2 was my worse, mainly because I was just very uncomfortable. Take the meds around the clock, take the Miralax because it did help me. Follow the liquid diets. I definitely had my moments of doubt but I woke up today and feel alot better. I do recommend taking levison, using a wedge pillow, bc it really helps with the discomfort. And take it very slow. Everyone was right, it will get better!

Well done! You're probably through the worst of it! Are you hungry at all? What liquids are you eating?

So glad it went went well for you! I'm excited to hear your progress! I have a meeting with the dietician today so let's see what she advises.

It's getting better by the hour. I'm still doing liquids which is Jello, chamomile tea, chicken broth, apple juice. I'm sticking to the 2 ounce limit. I'm hungry because all I see are food commercials but seriously, I would be very content with just one saltine cracker. My biggest concern is that I have regular medication that I need to take but I never take it on empty stomach. The fullness or whatever feeling is more on my left side, I have discovered that holding a pillow is comforting. I did feel much much better today. The first couple of days do make you question your decision but don't give up..as I'm sure I'll have more of those moments since December seems forever from now. But I just keep telling myself that this will pass and not having diabetes or heart issues from the weight is well worth months of discomfort. Do everything they tell you and others suggest...it is essential to getting over the first couple days!!!! Good luck and I'll keep you updated

I didn't have that "what have I done?" feeling after day 3, so hopefully you won't either. :-)

If you're having trouble getting comfortable, you might want to try downward facing dog - I've heard that can help adjust the balloon into a more comfortable place.

If you need to take meds and you're worried about having an empty stomach, try to do so with at least a Protein shake in your belly. I'm partial to chocolate Organic Fuel - I have one almost every day and my regular doctor gave it a thumbs up. It's not as thick and intensely flavored as some of the others, so it's easier to get down. You can buy it at the grocery store by the milk or on Amazon.

Keep up the great work - it will continue to get better!! :-)

Cheers!!

Thanks so much for keeping us updated. I just got back from the dietician and she has put me on a liquid diet from today. Getting procedure done on Wednesday. Still no sign of medication!!! I'm like 'bring me the drugs!!!'.

Otherwise, she just removed the balloon from a patient with a similar starting BMI as mine and she had lost 22kgs! Thats unbelievable! I am obviously not expecting those results but for someone that is on the lower end of the BMI I wasn't sure what my results would be.

How often are you weighing yourself?

A big question here. It looks like I will have to take a 14 hour flight one week after insertion for a business trip. My client has had an urgent issue I need to attend to. Do you think flying one week into insertion is going to be comfortable? The doctor said I would be fine but he hasn't had a balloon in him so I like to ask people that have been through it!

I'm on day 4 and feeling better but I also wasn't really sick, so I think you have to do what you think is best. I don't think I'd get on a plane simply because you just don't know how you'll feel.

Thankfully I haven't, I have had some cramping but the levison has helped

I only threw up the first night and the following morning. I was feeling a lot better after a week (I was back to work after 5 days), but I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable on a flight that long that soon. Plus it seems like a lot of people had a worse go of it than I did, so for that reason alone I would not recommend flying that far that soon ... if you can avoid it. :-/

If you absolutely must fly, plan your food carefully and pack whatever you can. You'll still be pretty limited after a week and, even if you were not, you want to make sure that you have healthy options at the ready. I've traveled in the past couple of months and have taken my favorite Protein drinks with me, making sure that I had hotel rooms that had mini fridges.

I hope it all works out - good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
