My nutritionist explained that they are just fine for sleevers, but not recommended for gastric bypass for this reason. I love them too - sipping one right now in fact.

Sorry - I'm blind! (Wonder if weight loss will improve my eyesight...) You look well-prepared! Do you have a good little blender, and soymilk? My nutritionist requires Protein powders (like nectar and Unjury) to be mixed in milk/soy, with a little fat to improve digestion, rather than Water - for the first 2 weeks post-op. I found a little blender that works well.

I got a Nutri Bullet to use to blend when I want to add ice, but I just use a Blender Bottle to mix powder with milk.

I had a Premier Protein RTD chocolate yesterday evening, blended with ice to make it a slushy consistency. It was tasty and very satisfying (although at this point I have no hunger, I think my head is saying 'eat' so it quiets that down). Today I'm trying Isopure vanilla powder mixed with 1% milk and it's quite good too. Neither of them have any weird aftertaste, so I'm thrilled to have a few choices over the next couple of weeks on liquids only.
I've got a sample of unjury chicken flavored to try this evening while the family has burgers :) It doesn't bother me at all to be around them while they're eating and I'm so grateful for that...this is MY weight to lose and MY journey and I don't expect them to change their lives. They're very supportive and have been waiting on me, mixing my shakes and just being wonderful as I get through these first few days post-op.

Ice! That's so smart - I am wanting a different, semisolid texture. Anyone tried to freeze a Protein shake to make it more like ice cream? Or I could buy some SF popsicles, but I am more concerned about making my Protein shakes more varied.

Tomorrow, I'm going to mix one of my bottles of Isopure Lemonade with Water and freeze it. I'm hoping it'll be like a granita or an italian ice-ish texture. I think that should be ok since I was given all the ice chips I wanted while I was in the hospital. I think freezing a chocolate Protein Shake would be good, too!

I have to revise my opinion on the Isopure vanilla No Carb powder...it got cloyingly sweet as I continued drinking it, I need to either dilute it or add something to it. I did drink the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury broth tonight and it was a nice change from all the sweet options. Tomorrow I'm going to try regular broth and add Isopure unflavored powder to see if that works well.

I walked into the kitchen as the family was making dinner and almost popped a piece of watermelon in my mouth! Yikes! I'm not hungry but I do miss chewing :(

I have a hunch the Protein Drinks won't freeze well. I used Protein Shakes for the first two weeks, then I wa so over those. I managed to finish one can of Unjury powder in that time. I have one full can left that I will likely never use. I also have half a dozen Isopure clear drinks still hanging around the fridge waiting for me to throw them out. That stuff is all pricey trash now and I'm glad I didn't go even more overboard stocking up on Protein supplements. I know its easy to get overzealous pre surgery, but I would definitely warn people against stockpiling protein junk.. Once I hit puree stage, it was easy for me to get enough protein through actual food.< /p>

I've been finding the vanilla and chocolate Protein powders mixed with milk a little too sweet, so I started mixing them with other things. Vanilla mixed with greek yogurt cuts the tanginess and ends up tasting a little like cream cheese frosting (but not as sweet). chocolate Protein Powder in a SF chocolate pudding was good too.

“Are you missing anything?” Well, there are at least a million different brands and flavors of Protein powder and shakes to try. :) But it looks like your current collection should be good for starters. Have you tried some of them yet?

@@Sophie74656 makes a good point: your tastes can change post-op. It’s kind of a balancing act and gamble: how much do you stock up pre-op so that you can have enough Protein around so you don’t have to worry about shopping too much, but so that you don’t end up with a ridiculously big surplus of useless protein if you find you don’t like the ones you stocked up on?

At least with the assortment you have, you should still like something post-op!

No, post-op. Cold drinks were like daggers to my sleeve. The first sip of Water I had was ice Water and it hurt like hell.

Now I wouldn't just because that volume isn't worth it. The pain of being overly full isn't worth the idea of variety.

The best thing you can do for protein variety is find a high quality unflavored protein. You can add it to all kinds of things, and that is your variety right there.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
