Can you feel the band in your stomach??

Recommended Posts

Hi .

I am just starting my process and going for consult soon. I was wondering, can you actually feel the band and/or the port?? Does your stoamch actually feel tight or anything??? Or do you not feel anything at all?? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks a lot ;):help:

I just got banded 8/16 and I don't feel the band externally but I do feel that something is in my chest area. Like swallowing a pill that doesn't go down. Anyone else experience something similar?

I was banded 8/14 and I feel nothing under my skin. Actually, I have absolutely no aches and pains other than the occasional stomach growling. I joke that maybe they really didn't band me while I was out and the incision spots are from aliens! My experience has been very minimal discomfort for about 2 1/2 days after surgery and since then nothing. I've been very fortunate that I was able to sleep on my sides within two days post-op and today 10 days out can sleep entirely on my belly with no problem. I do realize that this may change somewhat after my first fill - but for the most part it has been virtually pain free for me!

No, you should not be consciously aware that there is a band around your stomach in everyday life. I forget it's there all the time. But, yes you will experience new sensations when eating though.

Now, the port...when I was heavier I could never feel my port at all. But, after losing some weight I can sometimes feel it inside. It doesn't hurt or anything but it does sit closer to the skin than the band and some people can feel it from pressing on their abdomen.

but the tightness you may feel is after you've had some fills and you EAT too fast or take too big a bite of food and don't chew it well enough.

The only thing I "feel" is my port. which is just under the skin slightly below my belly button over to the right, down 1 1/2" ..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
