Hello friendlies,

I was sleeved on June 21st and boy was I not expecting the level of discomfort it brings to the table while recuperating. I've had plenty-a-surgery in my day and this one is just awkward because it feels like pressure in the abdomen/diaphragm area. It's starting to get better, though, so that's good and per my scale I've already lost 20 pounds somehow. My only complaint is I'm still not getting in a lot of Water and I'm not up to food right now. Also, my Protein powder is the ONE thing so far that I believe this surgery has affected the taste of. It's vanilla and it's just baaad right now. Does anyone have any pureed high Protein recipes they could link me to? I hope once I can do milks (almond, soy, skim) after about two weeks than it'll be more tolerable.

My doctor said my sleeve was very successful but also difficult because we went into it knowing I've got a ton of abdominal scarring from previous surgeries...I originally had told him that if he couldn't do it laprascopically than he shouldn't do it at all because I need to put as little risk to my kidney transplant as possible. He said it took about an hour and forty five minutes.

Now that I'm post, I'm focusing on getting in AT LEAST my 64oz of Water (and protein when I can get something better) so I can keep my transplant nice and happy. food noticeably made me "non-hungry" but water just feels weird going down.

Anyway, thanks all for the pre-op stories and tips and tricks and all that stuff! This forum is super helpful and I hope to stay on it for a while if not indefinitely. :)

@@Kaze - Congratulations. Welcome to the other side. It is a fun and exciting journey. The only thing I didn't really expect was the joys of the hormone dump that seems to happen after the first month. This varies from person to person but it can be profound. Mine was really strange...I would want to watch a chick flick one moment and have lots of sex the next. So the caution is try not to make any major lifestyle changes during the major weight loss phase if possible. (And as you become more irresistible, wear of a condom. I really wonder if we don't create a pheromone cloud when we are losing quickly). - see http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/219760-sex-oh-my-god-sex/page-22?hl=%2Bhormone#entry4005122

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
