I succumbed to my salty crunchy wants and ate a small handful of peanuts. My friend said I'm not allowed to eat that until after 3 months post-op. I'm only 2 weeks out. No issues or pain but I can hear my tummy rumble a little. I knew I shouldn't have but didn't think it would be that big of a deal considering I ate very slowly. Should I worry? Should I call the doc and admit to my mischievous?

It can be dangerous while you are still healing. Eating off plan - especially nuts- can cause significant complications and even be life threatening. If you have pain or don't feel right - call your surgeon right away. You may not have any issues but it's so important to stick to your surgeon's instructions.

Don't do it again your stomach is still healing! What if a peanut chunk gets caught in where the staples are between a piece of stomach lining? Then you would get a bacteria which can do many things that can kill you... Follow the rules so you won't have problems down the road

I got a peanut stuck at 3 months post-op and found out I had a stricture. Apparently peanuts do not digest very well. Keep an eye out for issues and don't do it again.

@@godarmourbearer, they are correct but I did the same thing at two weeks, only with popcorn. No issues but the ones on this site did warn me afterwards so I stopped. On my month check up, however, my doctor told me I was healed inside and free to eat anything, within reason, and when I told her about the popcorn, she said it was fine. Lol. It's so funny how before surgery I would eat whatever and now, almost 2 months post op, I can only eat a few things and I find myself having to force myself to eat. My whole mindset has changed. Still try to do Protein first, but I am recently finding I am not hitting my goals of 80-100 grams if I don't drink at least 40 grams of it. I just can't eat like I used to.... I know that's the point of the sleeve, but I'm SHOCKED that my whole mindset has changed and I eat to survive, not live to eat. I still haven't had fried foods, sweets, Pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread. Funny thing is, I don't miss any of that. I hope it doesn't change. Any of you long time sleevers, did you ever go back to eating "poorly", or non nutritional foods?

Good things come to good people.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
