Can someone tell me if some Drs don't do the whole sleeve can they do that and leave your sleeve bigger than what you was told or do they all do the size like you was told at the classes and Dr visit. banana size? Curious

There are different sizes because they use a tube to measure. It's some French measurement tool. Different doctors may have different preferences. Mine doesn't use the absolute smallest size because it would make the sleeve too small (in his opinion.)

@@autymn ty so basically I should ask my Dr I just assumed that they would use the smallest since we're doing a surgery that cant be changed, so how did you do with the size that you have. I really appreciate your help.

Studies have shown over time it doesn't matter what size they make it and making it smaller, has little benefit and increases complications.

They use the bougie as a guide, but they can only get so close to it when they are cutting.

I have no idea what size I have, when I did my pre-op research I learned it didn't matter so I didn't care. I wanted a doctor with a good surgery outcome and I found one.

I am doing great with my sleeve and the restriction it provides.

H. You could ask the surgeon if you really want to know. I think mine uses a 40, also. He said that if it was smaller, it would be much harder to eat/keep food down. I like the idea of finding a surgeon who has good results. :)

Thank you ladies for your help. Oh yes my Dr is terrific he's excellent in his field and has outstanding results plus reviews from prior clients. I met with him and the others in his office and I chose him after hearing what he had to say. He's top of his field.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
