Any home daycare providers out there?

That will be tough. You should check with your surgeon....the first thing that comes to my mind is the weight lifting limitation...mine was no lifting of over than 10lbs for the first 4 weeks. Good luck!

if you don't have any complications - and if they can climb up so you are not lifting - then you will be tired but ok.

look, it's not ideal. but I had a c section 21 years ago with 4 of my own kids at home and a nephew living with me. the nephew and oldest son were 8. so 5 kids and a newborn and I just had to take care to rest when I could, drink and eat and again, rest as much as I could. I survived - we all did and you can get through this too - just plan to be kind to yourself rest and get your Protein.

My surgeon is kind of useless; have two toddlers ages 2.5 and 3.5, asked about lifting post surgery, and he just said "if it hurts, stop." No specific lb restriction given.

Soooo, I'm sleeved 8/1 and will let you know how it goes. My kids are in daycare the first week and I have help the first week for pickup/diaper/PJ/bath lifting at night, but the 2nd week I'm pretty much back to on my own. Hoping I heal great and can get back in the saddle ASAP.

I run a home daycare and I had surgery Monday came home from hospital Wednesday and stayed away until Friday, then I sat in the chair(had help) with them and talked to them about my boo boos and explained to them I was going to be better Monday but my belly would hurt so the needed to be careful. Monday it was back to just me and I would just get on the floor to change diapers and I was fine. I had to also had two babies that I was feeding, so I just had a pillow between me and them. I also used the pillow to sit on when on the floor.

You will do great and everyone of your parents will be thankful that you were there for them. I have the best parents that also talked to their kiddos about me having surgery on my belly, so it was easier for them to understand that they needed to be careful!!!

Also I had a one year old grandson that didn't get it and I just lifted him with my legs into my lap and I was fine.

Good luck and I wish you a speedy recover!!!

Wow Texas has pretty loose rules for provider to child ratios. I was going to ask if it was even legal to watch that many children then I checked the state requirements.

It is very unlikely you will have the energy to deal with that many children until weeks 4 or 6. This is major surgery and you get tired very quickly post-op. You may have a lot of energy then feel completely exhausted.

Most surgeons say no lifting anything over 10lbs for a month. Kind of like when you have a baby and they tell you not to lift anything heavier than the baby. It really isn't worth risking a hernia.

I think you need helpers at least for the first month.

How many hours are you open a day?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
