Apologies all around

Recommended Posts

Hey guys just wanted to lend my apologies to all of you fine people for letting the one thread get way out of hand. I had just as much to do with that as the starter of that thread. I sometimes forget that being such a strong willed person and not afraid to speak my mind can get me into situations that should be stopped long before they get to the point this thread did.

I feel very strongly about the safety of the procedure along with the management of the patient whether there are complications or not after the surgery. Being an RN it really bothers me to see a surgeon not doing basic follow up by something as simple as a return phone call.

Again I won't rehash the other thread on this post. I just wanted to send my apologies that it went as far as it did. I should have cut it off long before now.

Thank you for all your support. This is what this site was set up for in the first place. Warm fuzzies all around. Let's all make a promise that it won't get like this again. I know I make that promise today. Megan really said it best that this is a place of caring, supportive, kind, loving people and it should remain that way.

Ok enough said.

Happy Holidays everyone.

God bless us everyone.

you're a good girl Penni...and you are passionate and caring .I could see that during the whole thing and never thought badly of what happend. I was actually happy to see everyone looking out for each other .....you learn more from this site than from anything else. Even one doctors' opinion is not always right and with everyone sharing their experiences and what their doctors' all say we are really taking care of one another by sharing..... Sometimes these things happen and if you sit back and don't get involved or don't open up our mouths about things we might regret it later. Especially about medical matters such as this is. I too am passionate and vehemently rightous and never back down even when challenged....This was an important topic and thank God somone stuck their neck out (like you ) and stuck to your guns! It could be me who had gone to that doctor not knowing about him ....By following all of the threads I could have made my decision and saved myself alot of trouble. It was for the best and if it happens again and gets a little ugly so what??? I hope we all keep sharing what we know or heard or read on other sights. Facts need to be shared . You are all right in my book!

Penni-

This is exactly the kind of post that makes this forum the kind of place it is. Everyone is entitled to get angry...and to stick up for themselves and ask each other hard questions. That's what makes a good friend...and if you ask me...the whole of the people on this forum make one giant (although slim!) friend.

Megan

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
