ami23 7 Posted June 23, 2016 I don't know if this was already mentioned or if available in everyone's area, but I personally enjoy CVS brand chocolate 'nutritional shakes' it has a good bit of Vitamins and isn't too sweet and I like the carb/protein/fat ratios w/o whey and lactose. I also add beef Protein collagen powder (zero taste in a shake) to it sometimes, or some Fiber powder/(I am still pre-surgery but thinking ahead).
kadie777 50 Posted June 23, 2016 My favorites are Chike coffee Protein, ON Gold Standard Mocha Cappucino, Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel and Kiwi Strawbery, and unjury chocolate. I also keep Premier shakes on hand for grab and go, as needed, and I like their chocolate shake. Also, I just got GENEPRO which is flavorless and can mix with any drink or food. Bufflehead 6,358 Posted June 23, 2016 To the OP, I prefer the powders and making my own shakes, the premade ones all taste like industrial wastewater to me. I use an immersion blender -- if you are using whey powder and a regular blender, the shakes tend to get super foamy and that's pretty much impossible to drink post-op. Jules M 16 Posted June 23, 2016 I like Pure Protein, both the chocolate and vanilla, but as long as I am using the powder. I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and throw in a couple ice cubes to keep it colder.
higher 966 Posted June 23, 2016 Of the varieties I've tasted so far I liked the Orgain creamy chocolate fudge shake the best.
no onions 258 Posted June 23, 2016 I prefer Premiere Protein chocolate flavor. Sometimes I add PB2 and half a banana along with some ice and blend it. Generally I drink it plain. I've been drinking it for over a year now. Initially I liked the vanilla, but it became gross to me over time. I did not care for the strawberry flavor at all. It looks like the have Bananas & Cream and Caramel as new(er) flavors. I haven't tried those (or seen them to be honest).

Clementine Sky 708 Posted June 23, 2016 And which blenders do you recommend? Surgery is Monday so it's crunch tine Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I don't like the premier chocolate shake cold, but heated up it's like a hot chocolate and wonderful. I also drink the vanilla and strawberry premier shake. I buy it by the case at costco. Right now strawberry is my favorite, but it wasn't when I first had my surgery three months ago. Sometimes the strawberry taste really sweet to me and the vanilla sometimes not sweet enough. I've also tried GNC Whey Protein powder brand of Cookies and cream and also their unflavored. I use the unflavored to add to other foods. The unflavored hasn't really changed the flavor of any foods. The Cookies and cream was OK, I may try to blend it up with ice but I did find that both of their Protein powders worked better if I use my stick blender vs my magic bullet. Using the magic bullet caused the powders to foam too much. What blender do you use? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I love the NutriBullet because it blends so quickly and is convenient. I just pop on a lid and can head out the door. As for protein powders, I really like Unjury's chocolate flavored Protein Powder. I'd add coconut cream to it for an Almond Joy flavor, or PB2 for a Reese's-like treat. Chike's Protein Powder is also tasty. If there is a Sprout's near you they have unflavored whey protein that dissolves really well into both hot and cold drinks. You can buy it by the weight, so you don't have to commit to a giant tub of it when you just want to sample it. I also liked GENEPRO. Starting about two weeks out I began making smoothies using a yogurt that is high in protein and low in carbs, frozen berries (also lower in carbs) and frozen spinach (the berries mask the flavor, and the consistency is better if it's frozen) rather than using protein powder, and that's what I've stuck with this whole time. ready?set.go 39 Posted June 23, 2016 I'm in a different county so brands are all different but thought I would add that u can mix it up a bit, I used to add a little cinnamon or nutmeg to the vanilla shakes to give them a twist, also add some PB2 to a chocolate shake or some frozen banana chunks... Blend up and the cold banana keeps the shake cold longer! I also found adding ice helped- the colder the shake the better they tasted... We have a new one over here that tastes just like a crunchie chocolate bar or a violet crumble... Yum!!!
