Sick all the time and hair loss

Recommended Posts

I lost some hair but it wasn't a huge deal for me because I had lost a lot of hair already before surgery. So, I knew how to deal with Hair loss. I haven't ever felt sick since surgery other than a couple of times accidentally eating too much, and I got a cold once last year. My health is terrific and I feel great.

Never sick.

hair grew back faster than it fell out. And I don't even care about the hair to be honest. I wear wigs and weave anyway because that is the current trend.

How do you define sick? I haven't gotten any viruses since surgery. Sometimes I ate things that didn't agree with my sleeve and I felt unwell for a while but learned from my mistakes. I lost quite a bit of hair but it grew back nicely.

Define sick. You are having major surgery, your stomach is being cut, there are holes cut through your abdominal wall....so there will be discomfort. To this day I occasionally get nauseated or vomit.

Most people do have some hair loss but you can help that with Protein and Vitamins. I had minimal Hair loss. But honestly the weight Ive lost would definately be worth some hair loss

I guess I am one of those who is sick. I have written about it before and have tried a variety of things to reduce my pain but nothing seems to help. Dense Proteins like egg and tuna salad, pork and cottage cheese, even if only a 1/4 cup causes me pain in my tummy. This pain last anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours. I am so tired of eating and having pain. I eat slowly and chew but still get pains. I am taking Gas X and there is no immediate relief. The only thing that seems to help is to stretch out on my bed. I see the surgeon again in July. At the 3 month mark he told me that was my signal that I was full. I seriously doubt that 1/4 cup of cottage cheese makes my tummy that full. Because of this pain issue I have reverted back to using Protein Soups and drinks and only eating 1 meal of dense Protein.

@@ssflbelle Have they done an endoscopy to see if you might have a stricture?

Nope I have had nothing done since surgery in Jan. I don't even know what an endoscope and stricture are?

You need to get an appointment with your surgeon. You should not still feel this bad. Please call ASAP and hopefully they'll figure out the problem.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
