I've finally been approved for my sleeve surgery I am sooo excited. I'm schedule for surgery on July 9th and will be spending one night in the hospital. I would like to know from you guys who have already done the surgery 1. What did you pack for hospital stay and 2. Things u know now you wish persons had told you before surgery. Thanks

Congratulations! I also spent one night in the hospital and I brought a bunch of stuff I really didn't need. When I wasn't up walking, I was knocked out asleep.

The things I actually used were:

comfy pajamas

slippers (or those socks with little pads on the bottom. They gave these to me in the hospital but I wore my own slippers instead)

hair brush

toothbrush & toothpaste

chapstick

Things I wish I knew before:

It will be hard to drink even a little bit of Water but give it 100%. Plenty of Water will make it much easier to go #2 when the time comes. Trust me, you don't want to make this any harder than it has to be. Miralax was my best friend for 3 weeks post op.

Good luck! I'm almost 9 months post op so feel free to message me if you have any other questions about what the early months are like :)

Thank you so much. I don't want to buy a bunch of unnecessary items.

1. I packed toiletries a change of clothes flip flops and comfortable socks and most importantly*I believe* my teddy Bear❤ he helped a lot with the healing and pressure way better than a pillow. 2. I didn't know how hormonal I would be or that I would be able to feel my whole digestive process lol oh and Hair loss I didn't know about that either

Congrats

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
