Just wanted to check in with you. I had surgery in TJ on 6/23/16 so I'm heading into my 3rd week post-op. I can't say enough about how well we were treated (there were 5 of us) throughout our stay. From the driver to Sandra the patient coordinator on that side to all the staff including Dr. Lopez. Even the staff at the Marriott were wonderful. Day after surgery, my roommate and I walked from the recovery boutique (2nd floor of the hospital) to the Wal-mart which is about a block and half from there. Only pain I personally felt was from the dang drain. Once that was pulled on Saturday the 25th, I felt instant relief. Sandra took us shopping on Saturday at Revolution St. which was fun.

There is a book in the recovery boutique...don't forget to sign it! We did. :(

If you haven't already joined his FB support page do so. He and Sandra are very active especially when we have questions and tag them:

I had the sleeve with him on 6/23/16, you're in excellent hands. You can search for bariatric surgeries on FB. Those of us who've had surgery with him post there too. He and Sandra are active on the page, you just have to tag them if you have a question directly for them.

Good luck! :)

Did you have to pre-pay the whole surgery before it was scheduled or do they finance you or do they give you financing options? I'm waiting on a call back from them for a consult.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
