I am the same way. Only rich foods like almonds seem to be an issue and not a big issue at that. My guess is that you haven't lost more because you've explored all the "don't eat" foods to see if you get dumping or not. No judgement here. I've done it too! Haha. Ice cream, beer, liquor, sushi rolls, hamburger WITH a bun, bowl of Cereal etc. But. I don't do it often. I've had steady weight loss (sleeve 3/29, down 57lbs). But when I see a day to day of zero weight loss I know it's because I ate one of the things I'm not supposed to. So back to strict 2-3oz, Protein first, 1-2 shakes a day and bam! Start dropping weight again.

You need to learn healthy eating habits. The surgery wasn't a magic wand - it's only a tool to help with Portion Control. You have to do the rest. Why have you tried foods that could make you sick? I don't know how much weight you expected to lose (42lbs is alot) but it is easy to eat around your sleeve. Stick to your plan.

I really havent tried bad foods, i avoid fried foods, rice, potatoes, chips, and sugars. I think my question is more that i can get more ozs of food and not feel full then normal.

Did you have an expectation of experiencing dumping with the VSG surgery ?

Honestly Yes, at the doctors office all i heard was people going thru this and mentioning foods they couldnt resist, I just thought i would go thru the same.

some people with the sleeve experience dumping, but most do not. many experience foods that no longer sit well in their stomach, but many do not.

I am one who has been able to eat anything I cared to - without problems for the most part. some would say that is an advantage, some would say it is not - but I am very happy with my outcome.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
