This may sound like a odd question but after the surgery has anyone gone through a phase or anything where your skin sheds. Like my palms and some other places are shedding as if I've had sun burn and the skin just flakes off.

Right after surgery when I was struggling with Water intake, my skin was really dry and it flaked some. I had the same issue in the winter. I wasn't dehydrated though. My skin was going through a lot of changes. It stopped around 6 months.

I haven't had problems in those areas, but I developed a form of psoriasis over my left eye a few months post-surgery. I don't think it's related to the surgery itself, though. My dermatologist told me it was due to makeup and skin care products causing an irritation. He prescribed a very mild steroid ointment, and it helps. The flakiness has come back several times, but I just apply a dab and it goes away in a day or thereabouts.

You haven't mentioned the other areas where you've having the shedding, but I wonder if something you're putting on your hands is causing the problem on your palms. Hand sanitizers and antibacterial soap can be harsh on your skin. You might want to try using a very mild, fragrance free hand soap at home, and then apply something like Aquaphor to your hands.

I just didn't know if it could be due to me not getting all the Vitamins and nutrients that I need that my skin is doing this. Since surgery I have been able to keep anything down let alone take Vitamins. But I think I'll get a consult to a dermatologist. I use anything on my hands no lotion or anything.

I'm having problems with my Water intake along with food. I am dehydrated, I been that way since I got out the hospital. Maybe that is why it's doing it.

How far out from surgery are you? If you aren't able to take your Vitamins and get your Water in, you should contact your surgical team.

I'm almost 4 weeks out. I've spoken to them and was hospitalized because of pancreatitis. So that's why I haven't been able to to really have anything.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
