I am scheduled for surgery next week (June 27th!!) and when looking around a lot of people with dates close to mine are having their pre-op appointments this week. The last time I saw my surgeon/had an appointment was April 14th. I guess I didn't think anything of it at the time, but no I realized that he has no idea how much weight I lost since or any other information. I guess he knows what he's doing (its a respectable surgeon at a respectable hospital) but has other people had such a huge gap betwee pre-op and the actual surgery?

I would definitely call. The hospital should be contacting you for preadmission work at the very least.

I filled out all the paperwork at my pre-op meeting. But I guess I can call, but I feel like they would have told me if I actually needed something. I'm

I wouldn't worry. I started the workup for surgery in another state. They did things there completely differently than where I live now. There, they had a half day pre-surgery appointment with labs, the anesthesiologist, and cardiology. Here, they do it all the morning of surgery.

That actually makes me feel a little better. Like I said I'm sure my doctor knows what he's doing. It's just so different from what everyone else is doing

Update. I just called my doctor and asked and they said that my old tests cleared me and I don't have to worry about any tests or anything. I guess all doctors do work differently. But if anyone was/is in the same boat as me I would love to hear it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
