simsimam 7 Posted June 20, 2016 I am scheduled for surgery next week (June 27th!!) and when looking around a lot of people with dates close to mine are having their pre-op appointments this week. The last time I saw my surgeon/had an appointment was April 14th. I guess I didn't think anything of it at the time, but no I realized that he has no idea how much weight I lost since or any other information. I guess he knows what he's doing (its a respectable surgeon at a respectable hospital) but has other people had such a huge gap betwee pre-op and the actual surgery? KristenLe 5,979 Posted June 20, 2016 Do you have pre-op blood work to be done?
simsimam 7 Posted June 20, 2016 Nope, I only had my original blood work from when I first met 6 months ago.
KristenLe 5,979 Posted June 20, 2016 That's unusual. Usually you have a pre-op appt at the hospital to get blood work and surgery instructions. You may want to call.
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted June 21, 2016 I would definitely call. The hospital should be contacting you for preadmission work at the very least.
simsimam 7 Posted June 21, 2016 I filled out all the paperwork at my pre-op meeting. But I guess I can call, but I feel like they would have told me if I actually needed something. I'm Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

anniebanana 167 Posted June 21, 2016 I wouldn't worry. I started the workup for surgery in another state. They did things there completely differently than where I live now. There, they had a half day pre-surgery appointment with labs, the anesthesiologist, and cardiology. Here, they do it all the morning of surgery.
Tara1992 79 Posted June 21, 2016 I just scheduled my pre op stuff and they told me it had to be within 2 weeks of the surgery date Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Like I said I'm sure my doctor knows what he's doing. It's just so different from what everyone else is doing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
simsimam 7 Posted June 21, 2016 Update. I just called my doctor and asked and they said that my old tests cleared me and I don't have to worry about any tests or anything. I guess all doctors do work differently. But if anyone was/is in the same boat as me I would love to hear it!
