tholbert08 51 Posted June 20, 2016 I keep seeing people that have had the sleeve are staying overnight at the hospital. I got the impression this was day surgery. Did I miss something? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
busybeebug 415 Posted June 20, 2016 I think it depends on your surgeon and program. Mine is one day overnight for pain control mostly. But I've read a bunch go in the am and leave in the pm barring any complications Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
silverthreads 183 Posted June 20, 2016 Mine was an overnight stay -- first thing the following morning I had to do a barium swallow so they could see everything was flowing OK, then I was allowed liquids for the first time. Since I was walking fine, eating (well, drinking) fine, I was allowed to go home that evening. In the meantime I was on IV support and had a PCA for pain. Seemed like a good system -- but since I've never had surgery before I have nothing to compare it with!
jersey0601 99 Posted June 20, 2016 Mine was three day, two nights - standard for my program and I had no complications Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
magoosmom 115 Posted June 21, 2016 Mine is a 3-day, 2-night as well. I am actually not having my surgery until 2:30-3:00 tomorrow so it will be late. I am surprised that it would ever be a day surgery--seems like such a major surgery to have.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted June 21, 2016 I was there overnight but just a total of about 26 hours.
