Meal replacement shakes

Recommended Posts

I just checked out the advocare Meal Replacements and they have WAY to much sugar for me. A 1:1 ratio of carb to Protein is not a good profile IMO. Unless you're working out heavily or training for a marathon and need the carbs, that 12g of sugar in the advocare is a waste of useless calories you don't need. Plus the Calcium casseinate they use is not nearly as absorbable as whey.

I use Syntrax nectar, Premier, Quest, Bodytech, and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. All of them have 20-30g Protein and just 0-5g carbs

I actually do Camp Gladiator boot camp so I am a little concerned post surgery and post lifetime of getting enough to eat with the amount of exertion I put out 3-4 times a week.

Well then, yeah, that many carbs may be just the ticket for you since you are burning them off. But for a lot of more sedentary WLS patients, including myself, (I usually log 12,000 - 20,000 steps/day but no gym time) it might not be the best choice. Good luck with everything!

I use boost for diabetics. It has barely any sugar, 16 grams of Protein and chocolate flavour. Very useful for when you are in a hurry in the mornings since I am used to skipping breakfast..For my shakes, I use a spoonful of frozen yogurt with milk and some frozen fruit.< /p>

English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
