I am 8 months post op and I'm seriously covered in bruises. I have 16 on body right now. I've never been one to bruise easily until recently. My dr tested me 2 months ago for Vitamin deficiencies but everything was good. However I am not the best about taking my Vitamins. Especially this past week being on vacation. Anyone else have bruising issues after surgery?

Yes!! Not all over but big ones for no reason that take forever to go away. Hmmm? Anyone else? I'm 7 months out and noticed it last month. At 65 my skin does not seem to be as fragile and thin as it used to be but am confused about the bruises.

I know that deficiency in Vitamin C, Iron, B12 and Vitamin K can cause easy bruising.

If you had good bloods 2 months ago... it is quite possible that you may have developed a deficiency.... all these (except Vitamin K) are Water soluble... so they don't stay in your body long.... a deficiency can occur in as little as 4 weeks.

What Vitamins are you currently taking and at what dosage?

If you need Vitamins perhaps they can give you a shot of vitamins like they do babies at birth (vitamin K) or B12.< /p>

Have your dr run a routine blood work up to make sure you're not fighting something. With low platelets you will bruise easy too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
