Hi guys,

I am 4days post op and at home.. Feel very weak and feel like this was the worst mistake I could've done.... It's been more painful then I ever thought!! Anyway, I was told that a nurse would go over with me on portions and what to eat post op but nobody did..so I have no idea how much it to much?? In support groups they said 2oz-6oz people can handle? Is that every hour? How do I know when I full?? Thanks'

It was painful for me too. I had my surgery on June 01st. I can hear myself waking up saying "my gosh it hurts"!! It will bet better. You will feel full and you'll know it's time to stop. Drink juices. That helps. But honestly, you did the right thing. It's hard to see now, but some time down the road you please be happy you did!

Juices are full of sugar and can be acidic. I'd avoid them at all costs.

Right now your diet is a very, very simplistic formula to follow. Protein shakes and Water. That's it for the next 2+ weeks.

You have to get past the desire to eat until you are full. That is over with. You will get that full feeling later on once you are eating real food. For now, though....it's just those liquids.

You'll not be dealing with hunger anymore from this point forward. Use that to your advantage in losing the weight.

I I remember correctly....they suggest I have an ounce or two of Premier Protein ready mix shake every hour along with the same amount of Water for the first two days home.....after that I was to work my way up to 2-3 Premier Protein Shakes each day along with water. By the end of the first week I could handle 3 shakes a day with no problem.

Now is a great time to stay out of the kitchen and really break away from a food focused life.

Be patient and allow your body to heal. Try to get up and walk every two hours and be disciplined on getting in your water. Sip everything carefully and stay on track.

You had the surgery for a reason. Get your mind wrapped around that start to enjoy the weight loss that you'll be seeing as soon as the post op inflammation eases up.

It sounds like that new surgeon who replaced the first one you saw didn't verify with you what had previously been discussed by the first surgeon. I am so sorry but it seems like you have had trouble with this since day one. During my very first visit, I was give a blue binder my Dr called the Sleeve Bible. I was to read it and ask any questions when I saw him the following month. I was to be placed on a high Protein, low carb diet and see him each month for the next 6 months. I saw my Dr 7 times before my surgery and was free to ask whatever questions I wanted and he took the time to answer each one. I also ordered The BIG Book on the Gastric Sleeve from this site and read every page of it

Just like Dub I also was told no juices as they contain sugars and the acid might due me harm. My first 2 weeks post op I was allowed Protein Soups, shakes, sugar free Jello, greek yogurt, sugar free popsicles and Protein drinks like Isopure. At week three I was allowed to add 1 egg for the day. At week 4 I was allowed soft foods. It wasn't until week six that I was allowed to begin eating dense protein like chicken, ground turkey etc. I was not allowed fruit either until 6 weeks and than it was an apple or banana.

You need time to heal and when you do start eating food again take it slowly as some foods you may not be ready for yet. I hope others will post their plans so you can see there are many different plans out there but taking it slow and easy is the best way to go. Good Luck!!

I concur with @dubb and @ssflbelle. My program had a couple of soft foods after Day 2 (refried Beans and cream of wheat), but not all do. There is a whole mafia out there lying to people about Orange juice. It's bad for everyone. I was allowed V-8 and enjoyed one every afternoon at Cocktail Hour!

I would call your office Monday and tell them you didn't receive diet instructions. Be sure to take pain meds as directed and walk! If the pain is concerning - don't hesitate to call your surgeon.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
