Hi, I have been out of surgery for about 2 months now & I've been stalled at a certain weight (down 30 lbs or so)...my issue is that I can't get in my Protein. It hurts my stomach and makes me feel like crap after I try to drink the shakes. Anyone experience this?

I've tried premier Protein Shakes and optimum nutrition whey Protein and they're too hard to drink.

Order the sample pack of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury from their website. It is a good quality Protein. They have unflavored powder that you can mix into pudding, yogurt and other things. I was on it pre-op. Luckily I can handle the Premier Protein post op.

If you are two months out can you not eat food? What happens when you eat things like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, turkey, tuna or other fish, chicken, etc.?

At 2 months I was eating 3-4 ounces of fish 5-6 times a day to get my Protein in, something like that. A really moist baked fish turns to mush in your mouth. Maybe give that a shot.

Have you tried Syntrax Nectars?

I can eat those things but obviously small amounts so it never enables me to meet my Protein goal.

As someone else suggested, have you tried Syntrax nectar? ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates are light and fruity, too.

Have you tried Protein pudding or Soup? I like the WonderSlim puddings and the ProtiDiet Tomato basil and creamy chicken Soups. unjury chicken Soup is good, too.

You may need to eat more frequently if you can't find a protein supplement you like.

I agree, if you can't get in too much Protein at one sitting, you may need mini meals through out the day. Cottage cheese 1/4 cup is around 11-12 g of protein.. greek yogurt (dannon light & fit) I know is 12g of protein.. oscar meyer P3 Protein packs deli Snacks are about 14g of protein (they're 2.3 oz) Find some things that you like, that are easy for you to get down.. you'll be able to increase your protein a bit more down the road. I know early on it was easier for me to drink no sugar added carnation instant Breakfast with a cup of skim milk-- it's lighter feeling going down than the usual protein powders... not as much protein, but I was able to work up to the ones like unjury when my stomach was ready for them. Or sprinkle unflavored or vanilla Protein Powder into yogurt, applesauce, etc to get more in that way maybe.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
