If you cheat then you stop and get back on track. But you need to think about why you are cheating. Also the closer you get to Your surgery date the more imortant it is to stick to your diet.

Post op you will have to completely stick to the liquid diet or you could damage your sleeve

I am scheduled for June 29th an I have had a hard time today! It's been easy had to start on 11th due to medical problems needing under control which takes little longer than normal 2 weeks ! I'm having a hard time with variety of liquid qualifying foods?

If it makes you feel any better my surgeon doesn't even require the two week preop liquid diet. He says there is not enough evidence that shows it reduces your liver significantly. You're gonna be just fine. I'm not saying to go against what your surgeon has told you. I'm just saying that you'll be ok with one slip up...just don't make a habit of it!

Thanks so much, that does make me feel better. I've always questioned it because some people I know only did the diet one week and some were able to still eat up until 2 days before the surgery. I'm not going to eat again I have 10 days until surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
