shotgun72000 30 Posted June 17, 2016 I met with my Surgeon regarding having the sleeve surgery and he informed me I have the choice between the six incision procedure vs. the single incision. He explained the recovery time is less and the pain. Seems like a no brainier decision, except it bumps the base price up $3k more. Anyone out there had the single incision sleeve surgery? If so can you, relay your experience. Thank you! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted June 17, 2016 how large would the one incision be? I had 6 but honestly 4 of them were only about 1/4 of an inch, one was maybe an inch and the other one only slightly larger where they pulled out the stomach.
Sophie74656 1,572 Posted June 17, 2016 Haven't had the single incision one but there was really very little pain with the regular way. If it was me I would ask the surgeon ehich method they would rather do regardless of the cost
jessicajas37 5 Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) Hi guys! I am scheduled for June 20th! I am getting the robotic surgery which is 1 incision in the belly button. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited June 17, 2016 by jessicajas37
shotgun72000 30 Posted June 17, 2016 It's done through the belly button, so no scars at all, which is good bc I already have four from my gallbladder surgery. @@jessicajas37 Please let me know how it goes. My surgery date is eight days after yours. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
jessicajas37 5 Posted June 17, 2016 @@shotgun72000 Yes, 1 incision in the belly button. My surgeon said it is faster too! I will definitely keep you posted. I heard that the gallbladder has to be taken out after weight loss surgery. Is that true? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
shotgun72000 30 Posted June 17, 2016 @@jessicajas37 Thank you! I can't wait to hear how your surgery goes. I'm not sure on about having the gallbladder removed after this surgery. Mine was removed in 2008 bc I had gallstones. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted June 17, 2016 I would not bother with this. I'm almost 2 years post op, and I swear I can only find one of my scars now, and it's astonishingly faint. Only two of them were an inch long. The others were all about an eighth of an inch. And $3K extra sounds to me like one of those car salesman add-on things that happens just before you sign the papers -- and is where the dealer's profit comes from. I think it's odd that people will pay extra for a single incision, but later don't seem at all bothered by Tummy Tuck scars.
shotgun72000 30 Posted June 18, 2016 My BMI is 36 so hopefully I won't have to worry about loose skin. The reason I'm looking at the single incision is because my husband works overseas and is only going to be home for four days of my recovery. I'm self-pay and I'm already into this $$ so if my recovery is sooner I'm willing to pay the extra. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

ocgirl15 667 Posted June 20, 2016 If I were in your situation I would go with 1 incision if insurance was paying but as self pay no way. It is not worth 3k believe me!
NYSuperDuck 77 Posted June 20, 2016 For what it's worth, I had 5 incisions and I was back at work on Monday after a Wed surgery. I'm not sure how much faster single incision recovery could be Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

shotgun72000 30 Posted June 21, 2016 @@rubia72 They go through your belly button so not sure how big the incision is but I know there won't be any scar. They refer to it as the scarless incision. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
