Before having gastric bypass what are some of the foods you had to have just one last time? My surgery is scheduled the 29th of this month so I will start the liver shrinking diet next week.. This week has been all about Mexican type foods... I didn't realize I liked it so much till that's all I wanted this week... So what's your foods?

Sweets from my favorite local bakery. My mom visited and I had her bring them the day before I started my pre op diet.

My favorite was a grilled stuffed burrito from Taco Bell, smothered in hot sauce. Also ramen noodles. I can't even fathom how many packages of ramen noodles I've eaten in my lifetime...

I only had a one day liquid diet the day before surgery. I'd already lost more than the 10 percent of my excess weight that they required. I had my last pre op appointment at 8 am at the hospital the day before my surgery.

When I left the hospital after the appointment I suddenly had an epiphany! My surgery was scheduled for 12 noon the next day, which meant I still had about three hours until I had to start my 1 day liquid diet.

I went to pizza Hut and had a final blow out - cheese and pepperoni pizza, bread sticks, the big chocolate cookie and Coke Zero. It was great and I don't regret it one bit. I'm 11 months out now, reached my goal weight, and haven't had any fast food, bread, or soda since that day. I no longer even crave them.

I had foods I thought I might not be able to tolerate after surgery. My "last bite" before starting on my liver shrinking diet was a chocolate turtle from a really good chocolatier.

This is cruel and unusual punishment. I thought it would be hypocritical to splurge but I did have a twice baked potato and t bone steak.....5 days into my liquid diet and I'm craving split pea Soup but it probably has too many carbs :( I'm doing ok though

At my visit with the nurse practitioner this past week (2 days after the phase II diet) he asked how I gained weight! I explained that I panicked the week prior and at everything I would miss; such as pizza, pop tarts, and the best fried chicken and homemade macaroni and cheese I've ever made. I love to cook and I learned how to cook from southern women, then married into an Italian family, picking up great cooking skills there as well - now I need to reteach myself to cook healthy foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
