B1essed1 61 Posted June 17, 2016 Does anyone know of a low calorie chewing gum brand? Most times I'm not hungry but just miss chewing on foods. Fat girl problems. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App As far as I understand it, any chewing gum that is sugar free is also low calorie.

menaegle 12 Posted June 17, 2016 My surgeon told me that I can't chew gum after WLS. He said if you accidentally swallow it, it can get stuck and become a surgical emergency
Dub 9,922 Posted June 21, 2016 I chew sugar free gum all the time. I simply don't see a risk.
reree6898 1,164 Posted June 21, 2016 I chew gum all the time. Just be sure to not swallow it because that can cause a blockage and require emergency surgery.
GoingRogue 53 Posted June 21, 2016 sugar free gums and candies have sugar alcohols in them and cause gas and also they tend to do the opposite of taking away the craving. They cause you to want to eat. I can see it not being a problem 1+ years out when you are well established though.
