Low calorie chewing gum?

Recommended Posts

My surgeon told me that I can't chew gum after WLS. He said if you accidentally swallow it, it can get stuck and become a surgical emergency

I chew sugar free gum all the time.

I simply don't see a risk.

I chew gum all the time. Just be sure to not swallow it because that can cause a blockage and require emergency surgery.

sugar free gums and candies have sugar alcohols in them and cause gas and also they tend to do the opposite of taking away the craving. They cause you to want to eat. I can see it not being a problem 1+ years out when you are well established though.

No one ever told me not to chew gum. I chew it all the time and haven't had an issue.
