Late June Sleeve Buddies?

@@chycky Sounds like you're doing great! I laughed at the water/chicken/pee/yogurt/water/chicken thing...sometimes I feel like my entire diet is chicken, cheese, apples, coffee and sugar-free popsicles! Actually, that's what I ate today, along with one asparagus spears and 2 slices of boiled egg :)

And I cleaned my closet out 2 weeks ago and got rid of virtually everything I owned. I took it all to our local thrift shop and donated it, minus some of the 'good' pieces that I gave to a friend who is planning to have WLS :) I was in a 16/1x when I had surgery and had been for a few years so I didn't have any 'skinny' clothes. I'm now proudly in 12/M and am rebuilding a wardrobe with end-of-season sales, etc. I've bought a couple of things in sizes 10 and 8, which BLOWS my mind, but if I lose another 50 lbs, I'll go down at least one more size, right? I wore a size 8 wedding dress and got pregnant 6 months later and have never gotten smaller than a 12 again. I'm with you in not holding on to anything big...I'm not going to make it comfortable to gain weight again.

@@ShelterDog64 wow! You are doing great! Although I don't want to have bare closet I am loving growing down and out of clothing. I have some items that rotate from too tight to just right (and a couple that have gone through that cycle as well as too big!). I use my next round of too tight to gauge progress as I feel and see difference even if scale or even measurements are not moving.

@@rebecca wills here is when I feel really full --if my bites too big or I eat a little too fast and this is exacerbated if what I am eating is meat. This seems typical and is my reminder to not only eat different items than before but eat them differently i.e. Slow. It can be hard if I am in a rush or not paying attention.

What about everyone else how is exercise going? Do you feel need to mix it up?

I eat about 6 to 8 bites the size of a nickel. chicken feels me up more than tuna or ground beef. And, my exercise is lacking... same pattern for me that I need to work on. I seem to exercise a couple of weeks, then stop, then start, then stop........ sigh.

I'm feeling no relaxing in restriction. If I eat more than 4-5 bites I am in pain. Is that true for you?

I had felt a pretty generous relaxation in my restriction about a month ago, but that seems to be gone. Very odd to me. I'd gotten to where I could eat more than 1/2 cup at a meal, now I'm back to the 4 or 5 small bites and I'm done. Of course, it varies according to the food...5 bites of chicken sits a lot different than 5 bites of a vegetable.

This is a wild ride, isn't it? Who'd have thought I could eat 5 bites of food and be done??

@@chycky I had to have reconstructive surgery on my shoulder last month, that's really held me back in my exercise plan. I'm just walking...can't swim, can't do yoga, can't lift weights. My 6 week mark is this coming Tuesday and I'll be released from my immobilizer and hopefully start rehabbing the shoulder pretty aggressively. I'd dearly love to get on skis this winter!

I still can't get myself to put canned tuna in my mouth, and it was one of my very favorite foods pre-op! And the exercise...it's hard to be motivated in the fall in the PNW. It's raining daily right now.

Until yesterday we still were in the 90s! Even in Texas the weather is all screwed up but cooler air in 70s and low 80s is now here. That will help get me out walking more.

@@suzzzzz Yes, cool temps will help! I was so lucky that we had a mild summer here, and even on the hotter days it still cooled off nicely in the evenings. My husband and I would usually walk around 8:30 or 9:00 every night. Right now, it's rainy, mid 50's day and 40's at night. Brrrr....

How is everyone doing? Anybody kinda nervous with thanksgiving right around the corner? How about feeling a little less restriction? Sometimes depending on what I'm eating I feel like I can eat more than I could a few weeks ago. I was sleeved on June 27th here are my results so far! I'm feeling great!

Your results are fantastic! I am doing well. Feel great. Get to continue to shop for smaller clothes in my closet. I still feel plenty of restriction. Some days I can eat more than others but has been consistent for several months.

I am a very happy sleever!

Congrats on being 100 pounds down from your highest weight. That is wonderful! My surgery was June 23. I've lost 60, but haven't lost anything for a few weeks. I definitely feel less restriction which worries me. I'm not too concerned about Thanksgiving other than pie! Honestly, I probably will have a bite. Do you have to cook? I think that would be harder. I'm going to my sister's house and will only be taking deviled eggs. I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving!

I was sleeved on June 27 and I have lost 80lbs. It's so great to hear all the success stories. I can only eat 4-5 bites at a time. Mentally it's hard because I want to eat more but I know if I do it will come up or I will hurt. One thing I have worse now after surgery is heartburn. I always had it before but now it is so much worse. Anyone else have this?? I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and I hope you have. Merry Christmas!

My doc put me on Pepcid to help with my intermittent heartburn. It's fine now, and Pepcid can be taken long-term with none of the bone density problems that come about from extended use of PPIs like pantoprazole.

I am a slow loser but am now down 75# and almost to first goal. I found that once I got to a normal BMI, I got lazy... dawdling over meals so I could eat more, skipping workouts. So I stalled again, and it was my own fault! But after reading a few sleever blogs, I realized that could be the start to a big regain. Now I'm re-committed. I want to reach my stretch goal of135#! Glad this thread is reviving so we can keep supporting each other.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
