I've been big a long time -- almost all concentrated in the gut. I've looked third-trimester pregnant for 16 years.

My arms are still amazingly average -- not much bigger than my daughter who only weights about 150!! Up until a few years ago, my thighs were pretty average, too. But they started to creep up.

And then SURPRISE!! One day last year I get out of the shower and realize I need about a 46 DD FOR MY BACK!!!!

<<full body rigor>>

I am still grossed out at that!

So, I can deal with the belly being the last to go -- we're old friends, so it'll be a comfortable farewell. But those HAMHOCKS back there have GOT to go! NOW!!!!!:tired

Nana - you are just too funny:p - I too look p.g. - but it is shrinking.

I measured myself prior to surgery - since I am a month out i was going to re-measure to see how may inches. Well maybe i will get the courage up today to do that - if i can find the tape measure ;)

Nana you kill me!

In my family we say we got, "noassatall" from our mother.

My daughter has quite the booty. We were talking about the junk in her trunk when she was 2! Too funny.

"NOASSATALL" I LOVE IT!!!!!

When my granddaughter was a baby we laughed and said her back just ran down to the top of her legs and cracked.

But her baby brother -- he has a booty that jiggles when he runs....we love it!!! He's just hit that stage where if he's not in a Onesie, the clothes are comin' off -- diaper, too! And its just too entertaining to marvel at the presence of a full-fledged BOOTY that we don't race to cover it back up!

Also has a lot to do with your body type....I am pear shaped so everything on me goes away from the hip bones up. I'll be tiny tiny on top and my collar bone will be sticking out, flat stomach and everything, but my butt and thighs will still be large forever....mainly my thighs. But I guess that what Lipo is for....

Kacee -- you're right about it being a genetic body type. They're learning more and more about the significance of it, related to diet, all the time.

Tell me, are there any specific co-morbidities related to your body type?

I know the "pregnant belly and noassatall" shape is very indicative of the diabetic/pre-diabetic.

Hi, I'm new to this site, but was banded back in Feb 2007. No, the last lbs I put on were not the first I saw come off. The first that came off were my cheeks, shoulders, neck and chest. As I started to walk and do more, my legs started to slim down and now they look pretty neat. The slowest thing to come off.....??? My gut and around the back of my hips. It is coming off though. I started a size 26 (tight) and am now in a 16. Those first few days of feeling bloated and swollen are tough but before you know it, the weight will start coming off. You'll start to see it and you'll feel like getting a smaller mirror.... cheer up hon, you'll be great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
