After my EGD. My doctor is not comfortable with the Sleeve. He now suggest Bypass which makes me nervous. Any advice would be great. Should I even be nervous or give up on my journey?

I had RNY gastric bypass surgery over 3 years ago and I consider it to be one of the best decisions I ever made.

You're thinking weight loss surgery for a reason. To get healthier. Giving up shouldn't be a thought!

Here's the deal, they're both tools and should help better your life. Look up things, and figure out if this what you really want!

I absolutely trust and love my doctor. We spoke and I am going to do the Bypass. My fear of the surgery being more involved scared me. The fact that I will lose weight rapidly and instead gradually was also a fear. He said hey look at it this way. You can worry about loss skin and what others think or be healthy. I choose a healthy life.

I had RNY approx 5 months ago. I've never felt better, my nails have never been stronger and my energy is fantastic (I also take my Vitamins every day).

Yes it can be challenging in the beginning as you adjust to your new body, but it does get better.

Discuss your concerns with your Dr and hopefully he can put your mind at ease.

You need to make up your own mind as it is your body and your journey; but so far I have no regrets.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
