My surgery is scheduled for Monday. My hospital/surgeon didn't give me a suggested packing list (I know some do.) What items were essential to your stay ? I know comfortable clothes and phone charger are biggies. Thanks!

You don't need much. A book or something to entertain yourself, phone and charger, comfy clothes for the ride home and a pillow to press against your tummy for the ride home. The hospital should provide everything else

My biggest advice from my experience would be to stop and get some gas x strips, not the pills but the strips! I would take one whenever I could after my procedure and it helped so much with the gas build up and pain. Also I walked as much as possible to help get that gas moving and out.

You will need something for your lips like eos or burts bees.

I took what I wore and the loose ugly pants that I wanted to wear home...wore the same shirt I wore in. The hospital gowns covered it all and I looked seriously sexy in their non-skid socks. Otherwise I took my phone...barely looked at it after the cursory texts answering others and saying I was fine. Kindle...didn't use at all. CPAP mask and tubing...they used their own machine. And Aquaphor....my lips were soooo grateful. I actually spent more time than I thought I would sleeping or dozing so when I wasn't sleeping I just watched HGTV and dozed.

10 ft long phone charger was important! The little short one didn't reach....chapstick, and I took PJs and was able to change. wore my PJ's and robe home...............I also took an adult coloring book but wasn't able to use it....the drugs didn't mix well with detail coloring...LOL

Chapstick is a must! Long phone charger is very useful. Toothbrush, hair brush and I even brought a little makeup. Maybe clothes to wear home. I just went home in my hospital gown. It was a really large one that covered everything and was so comfy. Stayed in it an extra day at home.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
