Documenting your progress

Recommended Posts

How are you all documenting your progress? I have one YouTube channel for makeup, beauty and planning, and made a second one for the VSG journey. I'm not sure if I want to use it or not. Also thinking of blogging. I have a line a day journal where you write a line a day of what your day was like so I could use that, but with videos you can see the changes, with blogging or journaling, you can write your thoughts and feelings. If I decide to make YouTube videos, I will probably just make the videos and wait to upload them until I'm at a better weight.

What are you all doing?

My surgery is June 27.

I considered youtubing or blogging, but I was too embarrassed because of my weight, and now it would be too late to start because I am over 1/2 way through. Keep us posted if you do, I'd love to check out the videos and follow someone elses story :-)

I really didn't do anything special. No weight tracking, no blogging, no journal, etc. In fact, I don't even remember when exactly when I hit goal. But my sister (who accompanied me to Mexico for surgery) made me send pictures so she could see my progress, since we live 1200 miles apart. I think I sent 3-4 pics during the first 9 months until I reached goal. So glad she had me do that or I'd have no record of my progress whatsoever.

But I do tell my tale on this and other forums, so if I looked back at my posts I could possibly piece together a blog of sorts.

I keep a spreadsheet. Once a month, a friend takes my measurements, and I have formulas plugged in that tell me how many inches I've lost since the last measurement, as well as from the start. I don't think these details would be of the slightest interest to anyone but me so I've no need to blog or youtube about it all.

I take pictures everyday, but I took pictures almost every day before surgery.

I track my weight in a couple apps.

I'm supposed to be tracking my measurements and weight in a spreadsheet I made, but I honestly don't care too much.

I see so many people documenting things on IG and Youtube and they seem to let that, and the people that ask them things take over their journey to the point that tracking it is more important than what is going on.

There is a reason I don't take a lot of pictures on vacation, I would rather enjoy the moment than document it.

I track my weight on My Fitness Pal both pre and post op. I also tracked my weight loss on the old BP site in my signature.

I have a blog that I started after my 1st pre-op appt in Jan. 2013 and I have updated it regularly since then. I'm SO glad I did it. Not only does it help immensely to go back and revisit the whole journey, but I've been contacted by countless others who have read my blog and been encouraged in one way or the other. It's also been a "safe place" for me to process some things and work through some things without talking to friends, family, etc who wouldn't necessarily understand.

It's super easy. I started one at my first pre-op appt and have kept it going in the 3.5 years since then. You can check it out if you want...for ideas :-) It's themeiamnow.blogspot.com (also linked in my signature)

I have a blog, and I'm toying with the idea of YouTube videos - I did one about why I chose surgery, but haven't done one since.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
