OK so I knew that my hair would fall out a bit but does anyone have any idea how long this lasts?? I'm 4 months post op, I've lost 60 pounds, but my hair is falling out I often feel I might have a bald spot! :(

Been there, done that, it grows back. No need to worry about going bald. Some places will be thinner than others tho.

Mine starting coming out in clumps at week 13, lasted about 4 weeks and then the thinning slowed considerably. I discovered keratin spray to help with my hair since I was flat ironing it. I did not cut my hair short during this time because I wanted to keep the length. I just did the best I could with what I had and toughed it out. Now, a year later, it is almost back to its original fullness (I have really thick hair!) although it is curly now. I've changed my style some so that I can wear it curly or straight. My straight, full-bodied hair started becoming more curly a few years ago, very slowly. The significant Hair loss just sped up the change. I believe the curly hair started as my hormones were changing because of where I am in life B)

Mine lasted about a month and a half. Started at 3.5 months post-op and let up at about 5 months post-op, when it immediately started growing back.

Thank you! I feel so much better! After holding a huge clump of hair from my shower I was so depressed. God bless you all!

The first clump of hair that came out of my head totally freaked me out! I knew I would lose some hair at some point, but NOT THAT MUCH!!!! And then to lose similar sized clumps for 4 more weeks really freaked me out. I was not prepared for that amount of Hair loss in such a short time. These days any hair loss is what has always been typical for me pre-surgery. Just hang in there! :)

I've had other surgeries and never lost my hair. What is it about this particular surgery causes this?

How long was your hair??

mine is past my boobs... almost to my waist.

Not sure how long it'll take to get full length back.

I asked a similar question. I am 4.5 months out and my hair seems to be falling out. It's very noticeable in the shower. My boyfriend said he could tell the other day, and that my hair was clearly thinner on top. I'm not cutting my hair, so I'll have to deal with thin hair until it grows in. I am worried about bald spots too..but I haven't seen or heard of that happening to anyone

@@crazyplantlady - my hair was shoulder length. The most noticeable thinning areas were on the crown and at my temples. At the bottom of the length it got really thin and difficult to work with. Keratin spray helped me to manage it through the changes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
