1.) How long after your surgery did you have to have your gallbladder removed?

2.) What are the symptoms that it needs to be removed?

I ate too much food yesterday and woke up at 2 am this morning and threw up. I didn't throw up a lot at all. But it was very painful. This morning I've had pain in my upper abdominal area and I have been burping quite a bit. Could this be something to do with my gallbladder? The pain just started this morning. Was fine yesterday.

It could be gallbladder but it could also just be a reaction from eating too much and irritating your stomach and/or esophagus. Call your surgeon and explain your symptoms.

I had my gallbladder removed years ago. My symptoms were intense pain in my upper left abdomen after I ate certain foods (very fatty and/or spicy foods triggered it for me). And when I say intense, I mean - rolling around on the floor crying intense. I never threw up, and it happened more than once. I finally took myself to the ER when the pain got so bad I couldn't stand it.

I had my gallbladder out in 1973, when I was just 21 years old. My main symptom was sharp pain under my right shoulder blade. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the back with a Bowie knife and grinding it around. Pain is our body's signal that something needs attention. Please call your doctor and at least let them know you are concerned.

My main issue was eating certain foods and becoming very ill, cold sweats, nausea, abdominal pain, and sudden onset of diarrhea. I didn't have stones, my gall bladder just quit working. This was way back in the 90s.

I'm 4 months post op and I have recently had gallbladder issues. I should be getting mine removed shortly.

I had mine removed at the six month mark. I had issues early on, but it wasn't bad until the 5 month mark then it just kept getting worst. I would talk with your dr so it doesn't get so bad. My surgery was fast because it was so bad:(

I had my first gallbladder attack at 8 months postop. For about 10 minutes it felt like severe heartburn...pain up under the center of my ribcage. Then it progressed to debilitating pain radiating around to my back that nothing could alleviate. Spent 1 1/2 hours curled up in a ball on the bathroom floor, trying to breath. I've broken my back and had two vertebrae in my neck fused and this was by far the Worst pain I have ever experienced.

Suffered through 3 more attacks over the next 14 months before finally having my gallbladder removed. By then I had 15 stones packed in there. I've known so many people that have had digestive issues after having their gall bladders removed that I wanted to be absolutely positive I really had to do it. Surgery was 23 months after my VSG and fortunately I have had zero problems since.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
