thisgirlhunts 94 Posted June 13, 2016 Thanks everyone for the good wishes and prayers. I'm feeling pretty good, all things considered. I know that one of the things I have found valuable on this site pre-surgery was reading about people's surgery experiences, so here's mine. Reported to the hospital at 5:15 am and was promptly taken back to get ready in the short stay unit. Pre-op procedures included lots of questions, a pregnancy urine test, a shot of blood thinner (to prevent blood clots), and meeting with respiratory, anesthesia, and surgeon. Great explanations about what to expect from all the staff at helped put me at ease. Up to the OR at 7:15 am and woke up in recovery with an oxygen mask. Very sleepy and felt like there was a weight on my chest and shoulders. Ice packs were on my tummy. Some pain meds in recovery and then off to my room. (I didn't have my glasses so I couldn't take in a lot of what was happening in the recovery area.) Walked from the gurney in the hallway into my room to sit in a reclining chair. Nurse got IV meds ordered by doc set up--a Fluid drip, Tylenol, Advil, and Pepcid. Later, after feeling nauseous, I got a med for that. I've been sipping Water and tried some Protein liquid sent up by dietary. My goal is 2 ounces every hour, but I'm not meeting it yet. I'm working on it. I have been walking the hall. Pain is more soreness than anything else. Belching has helped--gas pains seem minimal (thank goodness!) Slept on and off through early afternoon and have been awake since then. Working on the breathing exercises hourly. That's improving. Looking forward to hopefully being discharged tomorrow in the am. jintycb 721 Posted June 14, 2016 You're doing great. Better than I did post op. I was being such a wimp as I was in soooo much pain and I was like a grizzly child. However, two days post op, I was out hitting the shops in the town in Belgium where I had my surgery and the day after that I spent the day in Lille, a beautiful town just inside the French border, again shopping and traipsing round the streets whilst waiting for the Eurostar train to whisk my husband and I back to the UK. I must admit that I didn't stray too far from a loo as I had a dose of the s***s which was apparently due to the disgusting disclosing gloop that I had drunk the morning after my surgery. The only thing that hurt that day were my feet from pounding the ancient cobbled streets and my husband's wallet. Can highly recommend a serious dose of shopping in a chic, historic French town as a post op recovery method for the girls! Boys, don't know if it's quite your thing! Haven't looked back. Steph6981 51 Posted June 15, 2016 I had my surgery June 14th. Everything went good, I had lots of scar tissue before the stomach removal. But I'm almost outta here just waiting to be discharged soon. I'm not nauseated or vomiting and I still have my taste right now. Having an sugar free popsicle. I have the bloating and gas but I can handle it. When I go home I'm gonna walk in the house. Relax. Oh also I got allergic to something after i got to my room. Im itchy and red in some areas on my head neck behind my ears and eye lashes. But I've been given benadryl. Well, anyhow I'm glad i got sleeved! Take care everyone!????
